Whether you are planning to build a Solid wood home on land that you already own or are still trying to find the perfect lot, it is very important to decide how much you have to spend on the ENTIRE project (“turnkey” cost), meaning everything from breaking ground all the way to the moment you walk into your home with your groceries.
For planning purposes we suggest you use the “turnkey” building costs described below – square foot pricing that we have seen consistently throughout much of the US – when doing your preliminary planning.
It is important to understand that this turnkey cost can be significantly affected by several items including site location and conditions, level of finishes you choose for both interior and exterior, local building regulations, and complexity of your design.
On average, we are seeing turnkey building costs fall in the range of $200 to $300 per square foot for everything but the land itself; that said, we have also seen some projects cost over $400 per square foot. If you are acting as your own general contractor, this building cost will likely be 15-25% lower.
